Hi There, finally got the time to post some of my thoughts . This time I will be speaking on the Empty Threats given by our Indian Society to the People (like Me and many others) who choose to stay single.
As I have mentioned before we are either single by choice, destiny or circumstances, so long as we are content with our lives and are not an existential threat to others, we prefer to be left on our own.
But How can that happen, the great Indian Society known for its Ignominious Double standards for whom a dictionary filled with expletives is not enough ,does not allow us to live peacefully.
They( the people of the Indian Society) to Empty threats to make us paranoid. They create the situation of Apocalypse or the great destruction and all that which will happens in case we remain single.
Some of their Statements are mentioned below.
"If you remain single for a long time, your marriageable age will will pass by and you will never get an suitable Groom/Bride Groom."
" Who will take care of you when you will become old?"
"People will call you Gay, Psycho and Mentally Unfit ( applies to single men) and people will call you a person with a loose character(applies to single woman)
"Society will boycott you, no one will invite you for any social occasions"
"You will be mocked and laughed upon in the society"
"Getting a house on Rentals and buying a property will be very difficult"
"Being Lonely you will fall into depression"
"You will be Physically Unsafe"
"Who will cremate you and perform your last rites after your death?"
"Now everyting looks good, at later stage of life you will yearn for a wife/Husband, children and a family and then don't say that we did not tell you"
"How will you be able to live your entire life alone?"
A common Joke to to single me " Man, what a waste , what a waste of the tool that god has given you"
"Who will feed you, who will do the cooking, who will wash your clothes and maintain your house?" ( After all many Indian men marry so that their wives will to the above mentioned things)
"Who will be there in your bad times??There will be no one out there to listen to your feeligs"
Ya ya and and there are many more statements to come. Fact is that people just cannot accept a single person living his or her life so they create artificial situations to scare us. Living single is not about discovering that special one but going out to be the special one , a person who has his/her personality imbibed in himself /herself.Some one who is confident of themselves and does not need the opposite sex to show them a Mirror of them ( in many cases the mirror reflecting is wrong).
To all the Single people reading this Blogpost, just don't get scared and give in to the empty threats given out by the so called EXPERIENCED PEOPLE of the Indian Society. In reality they are not experienced as they claim to be. The fact is that they see us the single people as an existential threat to their norms and values that they have upheld for god knows how many years.
So my dear single friends, don't bother and go out there to live your life.
