Is the Indian Society Filled with Mentally Disturbed People

This something that came in my mind when i was watching the Serial known as Crime Patrol on Sony T.V.

If i would like to conclude with an answer, i would say yes!!!!!!!

A lot of people are disturbed mentally, only thing that they don't show it and neither do they seek any help for the same.

India may portray itself as a country filled with Happy go lucky families, but the reality is something else, one can see numerous dysfunctional families in our neighborhood itself. But then what is wrong and why this phenomenon????? Well, when expectations, greed ,love, jealously, envy, lust and all types of emotions some being complementary and others being paradoxical to each other meet at crossroads, you have the start of a Dysfunctional Family.

The 21st Century may have brought a lot of changes in Technology and the way we live life but there is been very little changes that have come in the Indian Society. Reforms come form the change in personal attitude and that never happens.

What drives people to insanity???? There are a few examples that i would like to highlight and somewhere the readers can relate to them.

A man who is overburdened by responsibilities, taking care of his parents, his wife and children, trying to fulfill societal expectations, this mentally exhausted man has no time to live his life.

A working Woman who works for 10 to 12 hours at her Office only to come home and ordered to take care of the the Household responsibilities, scolded and humiliated at times. A hard working man who works 24*7 literally only to come back home and be nagged by his wife who keeps on comparing him with others and keeps telling him how incompetent he is.

A divorcee/widow who is shunned by her own people, a hard working teenager who is compared with his/her peers. People stuck in wrong and dysfunctional relationships who keep on brooding all their lives but are not able to come out of it.

And there are many more cases that one sees. People knowingly make mistakes but don't care. What happens is that there is a toll taken both mentally and emotionally on a person without him/her realizing that.

And this is the start of mental/psychological/psychiatric problems. However no one seeks any help or intervention. Going to a Psychiatrist or a Psychologist is a taboo and looked down upon. People abhor to go and take such an intervention. Majority resort to the religious figures who call themselves the Prophets of the almighty.

This is where the problems exacerbates, when you don't seek any active help , your problem becomes worse and people start becoming  prisoners of their own dysfunctional worlds.

This is the Reality, a reality that one gets to see everyday, but we are not willing to accept it.
